What types of business can have self-pour beer?

In these four years, myTapp – Brazil's first self-pour beer system – has seen a bit of everything here! Countless types of business come to us – from the classic bar or pub to açaí buffets – each with its own differences, products and audience.

We have worked with establishments of every size and in every kind of city – whether a local bar in a small inland town or a branch of a big brewery in a state capital. Despite their differences, all of these establishments had one goal in common when they contacted myTapp: sell more, reduce waste and control the flow.

If you still don't know whether self-pour beer fits your business, come decide with us!

Bars or pubs

Let's start with the obvious ones, which are just as important as any other establishment we'll discuss: bars and pubs!

The fear of most small bar owners is the stigma that self-pour draft beer is only for big bars in metropolitan cities. myTapp is here to debunk that idea – there is no establishment too small or too big. Value is created regardless of size or financial projections.

Waste happens at every bar, and the increase in sales and flow is real, even within your own reality. Pubs and bars have been settling into a standard and, in this kind of establishment, service almost always comes first. The idea of self-pour is not to wipe the smile off your servers' faces, but to move staff into roles that create value for your establishment, leaving the act of pouring to the customer, keeping everyone satisfied at all times.

Tap houses

Let's start at the beginning: what is the difference between a pub or bar and a tap house? Hint: it's in the name! A tap is, well, a tap. So while a pub or bar focuses on drinks in general, the whole experience of a tap house focuses on keg beer – the famous draft beer!

Let's make it more formal – according to the myTapp dictionary, a tap house is any establishment focused on selling draft beer and spreading beer culture through several taps with different styles. A really cool thing about this kind of business is the chance to showcase local breweries.

With so many companies dedicated to developing their own recipes for the crowd, encouraging the people next to you by bringing quality beer to your audience is fantastic. Since the tap is the essence of this kind of establishment, nothing could fit tap houses better than myTapp's self-pour beer!

Breweries and brewpubs

Breweries or brewpubs are the businesses most closely tied to beer possible: after all, what could be closer than making the sacred liquid? These establishments also fit the self-pour beer system extremely well.

Whether as the brewery's own bar or tap house or as an annex to the factory, self-pour draft beer is also an ally for testing new labels! With it, you can analyze – without interfering with consumption – how well the new flavor is being accepted by the public, checking the average amount per glass and whether the same person comes back for another pour within a short time.

Food parks

If there is one type of business that took off in recent years, it was food parks. It's the kind of place where, when you're with a big group of friends or family, everyone picks what they like, sits together at a table and can chat and laugh.

It's common for this kind of business to have a fixed truck specialized in draft beer and, many times, with exclusive sale of the drink on site. But what if that truck were replaced by a wall with several craft beers inside a self-pour system?
It's a super opportunity to introduce consumers to beer culture, be the star of a happy hour and be present alongside the local food.

Growler stations

The expansion of beer culture is breaking the barrier of craft beer consumption in specific situations and settings with growlers.
For those who don't know, a growler is a container – a glass, ceramic or aluminum jug – made especially to be filled with draft beer and take bottled happiness home. It was an old European and American custom that was replaced by beer bottles, and it is starting to gain popularity again.

At the start of this expansion, there was a myth going around that the growler had to be expensive and served only through a counter-pressure machine. However, with the business becoming popular – and following North American trends – the growler, as well as growler stations, became more democratic.

Now you can see countless establishments aimed at this audience working with self-pour draft beer as well. Whether through an adapter on the tap or a special tap for the purpose, taking your favorite (and fresh) beer home, to the Sunday barbecue or to go with Saturday's Netflix, is already a reality.

Food and dining establishments

Are you the owner of a restaurant, sushi bar, cheese shop, fast food place, pizzeria or any other establishment where food is the main product? Do you want to level up your menu and earn more from drinks in a really cool and attractive way? Bet on self-pour beer!

Many of our customers adopted myTapp's self-pour draft beer system in their restaurants and got more than positive feedback! Besides being a way to lighten the load on your servers, letting them worry only about the food, our solution cuts customer wait time and, as a consequence, the bad mood and dissatisfaction. You can focus more on your specialty and let self-pour take care of the rest!

Coworking spaces

A coworking space is a place or company that brings together the infrastructure other companies need to join it and develop their businesses. These spaces may or may not be for profit, and offer everything a traditional office would have, but shared by everyone in the space.

Generally, a coworking space is frequented by companies and professionals who value creativity, exchange of experiences and innovation – and innovation is our thing!

[Webinar] Coworking + bar: a new market

It's increasingly common for the venue to have a little corner (or a big one) set aside for selling beer. Whether bottled or on tap, a bar is the reality in many environments like this, and they are perfect for self-pour draft beer!

And beyond…

There are plenty of other types of establishments already innovating and breaking out of their molds. Hotels, barbershops and movie theater chains that want a differentiator opt for self-pour taps in their lobbies, all so their customers end up having different, memorable experiences.

This way, customers become their own “evangelists,” spreading recommendations of the establishment by word of mouth which, let's face it, is still the best advertising there is.

The beer market keeps getting bigger in every region of Brazil, and this culture keeps getting more popular.
Beer no longer has a place of its own to be consumed: you can still enjoy a cold one at home and at the bar, but you can also have new beer experiences in places where you never thought you'd see a draft beer tap.

The moral of the story: innovate

Whether you are the end customer or the owner of an establishment, don't be afraid of the new, of technology. We've given you several examples of people who innovated and for whom the risk was worth it. It doesn't matter whether you live in the interior of Amazonas or in São Paulo, myTapp self-pour beer fits you!

See you around and, who knows, at your own establishment.
