Draft beer waste: tips and solutions!

Do you work with draft beer? Planning to? In this relationship full of love, there is also room for a few common little problems. Here, we live among the experiences of bars, pubs and breweries that come to us with the same question: how do I avoid draft beer waste?

The draft beer waste problem

Serving the nectar of the gods has its bumps along the way. An estimated 25 to 30% of a keg of draft beer gets thrown away! That means at least a quarter of your money is going down the drip tray.

Do you know the biggest villain in this whole story? (dramatic pause) The foam head!

The foam head, our enemy…

Okay, calm down… the foam head is not directly the villain. But you know that beautiful sight that so often makes everyone drool? That is real draft beer going to waste.

According to experts, about 70% of that “foam” goes back to liquid form later! So, until you find the perfect foam head, you and your server may be wasting a good part of your business's profits.

Of course, this doesn't mean a good draft beer doesn't need a head. The foam can show the quality of the beer, indicating the health of the carbonation and the shelf life, for example.

Some items should be checked to make sure nothing interferes directly with your process and hurts your business model even more: temperature, flow and pressure, for example, should always be checked!

The solution to draft beer waste

What if the person serving the draft beer paid for every milliliter that comes out of the tap? It's a perfect match!

In 2015, myTapp developed the first self-pour beer system in Brazil, bringing autonomy to those who drink and a LOT of advantages to the owner of the establishment.

Those who work with myTapp can get down to a maximum of 5% waste and total control over everything that is consumed. And when I say everything, I really mean everything!
With us, you no longer have to worry about the keg level, which you can follow in real time straight from your computer or phone!

You don't need to investigate which types of draft beer your customers like best – all that information is also available to you in real time and, of course, without worrying about waste!

A control panel shows information such as keg levels, highest and lowest consumption, peak hours and days, kegs that need cleaning and plenty of other information that helps you manage your business.

Meanwhile, customers drink more because they are free to serve themselves whenever they want, and they try new flavors, enjoying the freedom of pouring into the glass only the exact amount they want to drink!

Self-pour probably wasn't your first idea for solving the draft beer waste problem, was it? And what about Poupa Chope? Do you know it already??

Connected to the beer line, between the keg and the tap, Poupa Chope blocks the line when a keg runs out. This keeps gas from getting into the line, so you can change the keg without wasting beer. It's that simple.
